Me
doy cuenta hoy cuán
premonitoria es esta obra ...
¿Donde está Princesa Lara?
Me llamo David.

Amazon reverses its ban and restores David
Uzal’s “censured” ebook
“The process of revision of images is
highly manual and therefore can incur into human error. We are very sorry for
all the damage caused by this situation” declared this week, Gustavo Durán, an
Amazon representative.
This statement came after Amazon first
refused, on March 27th, to release an ebook from the Franco-Spanish writer
and artist, David Uzal; Princess Lara or
the anticipated biography of whom brought the so-called weak sex to the top of
the power ( Princesa Lara o la
biografía anticipada de quien llevó el sexo dicho débil a la cumbre del poder)
alleging the cover picture, Uzal’s own painting of a naked woman, didn’t meet
the guidelines requirements. At that point, the author launched from Madrid an
anticensorship campaign which was shared on Spanish social networks and reached
media coverage including the influential Brazilian newspaper; A Folha de Sao
Paulo. Eventually Amazon reviewed its ban and accepted publication of the
controversial ebook. But after spending five weeks campaigning, Uzal was not
merely satisfied with a simple email from Amazon. He asked for a public statement.
Amazon somehow complied and sent an apologising email with the mention: “Please,
feel totally free to make public this message”.
“The one who recognizes his mistake is ennobled
by doing so” replied Uzal.
“Even if it was not spontaneously that
Amazon reversed its first decision, at the end they showed good-sense, fairness
and even a form of humility by declaring they had made a mistake” he added.
Therefore, the case is now closed, but
Uzal keeps his guard up since; “if a simple painting generated so much hassle,
the contents, which pretends to be an anti
politically-correct manifest with an extremely free relation to the body
and sexuality, could cause much more uproar. I just regret that this book,
which is about politics, revolution and transmuting values was put into the
adult fiction category.”
The ebook editated by ebookation
(Barcelona), is now available on Amazon and Bubok
